faux leather

The Outfit  Faux leather leggings: Hue (Je Suis Prest Boutique) | Sweater: American Eagle |
Vest: Kensie (Envy) | Tank top: Aerie | Scarf: Le Chateau | Boots: Town Shoes | Belt: Old Navy

I've been wanting to get my hands on a faux leather skirt or pants for a while now. I've had items such as these, these, and these on my wishlist this fall. Last week I popped into my favourite local boutique, Je Suis Prest Boutique, and came across these Hue "leatherette leggings". I didn't even give it a second thought before trying them on and I was surprised to find out how comfortable they truly were!

Tonight I'm looking forward to my first Christmas party of the season! I've got a new sequined dress lying in waiting!

Excuse the bland background in these photos- I was at my parents' home before heading to our friends' engagement party that evening in Grand Bay (and it was already dark outside). One of the emerging challenges these days is not having enough day light hours to capture outfit photos before the sun goes now. The last couple of times, it's been a pretty close call!

Since it was a house party I was attending that evening, I kept it light on the accessorizes since the skirt and bold necklace made a pretty good statement on their own. And since I knew I'd be spending the evening in my stockings, I just tossed on my tall black boots to travel to and from the party. Great times were had sampling a number of cheeses, tasting various wines, hanging out with friends, and meeting some other great people.

collared

One fall trend that was popular among bloggers this fall, but I stayed clear of, was the detachable collar. I personally just wasn't a big fan, but props to all those ladies who have been able to pull this look off (i.e. The Man Repeller). I'm not a fan wearing of turtle necks or choker necklaces so this trend just never jived with my personal style.

However, once I got a look of Dannijo's collar necklaces, I fell in love! This was a cute, quirky trend I could get on board with! A great lover of statement necklaces, I like this extension of the collar trend. I prefer the more natural, potentially elegant look of these necklaces that sit on the collar bone rather than being a collar that looks like someone beheaded from their blouse.

If only any of these necklaces were in my price range. I can find plenty of bib necklaces in an affordable range to drool over, but haven't yet stumbled upon a collar necklace! If you know of any, please let me know!

What is your take on the detachable collar and collar necklace trends?
